Trade Arts is a design and fabrication workshop that builds props, set pieces, and prototypes for film, photography, and product teams.

We work closely with production designers, art directors, founders, and fabricators to turn ideas into physical outcomes — detailed, durable, and camera-ready.
Whether it’s a sculptural prop, a working prototype, or something that doesn’t exist yet, we’re brought in for the projects that need more than a rough build.
What we do best
- Hero props
- 3D modelling & CNC machining
- Prototyping
- 3D printing & scenic finishing
- One-off builds & custom fabrication
How we work
We’re collaborators — not just fabricators. We know how to speak with set decorators, product designers, and on-the-ground crews because we’ve done it all before.
We get involved early, ask the right questions, and bring decades of hands-on experience across art departments, workshops, and production builds. We care about the finish, the fit, and the follow-through.
Our work supports
- Feature films & series shot in Australia
- Creative directors and agencies
- Founders bringing new products to life
- Props departments and independent crews
- Brands needing custom, physical experiences
Location
We’re based near the Gold Coast — within reach of major studios and shipping networks. Our workshop is equipped with CNC machines, 3D printers, a paint room, and everything we need to build and finish in-house.
FAQ's
What kind of projects do you take on?
We focus on detailed, design-led builds — hero props, set pieces, prototypes, and one-off objects that require custom fabrication. If it’s something that needs to look great, function well, and hold up on camera or in-hand, that’s where we come in.
Do you work from supplied designs, or create them in-house?
Production timelines vary based on project complexity and materials used. Typically, smaller projects can be completed within a few weeks. Larger, more intricate designs may take longer, but we always strive to meet deadlines.
What does TradeArts do?
We design and build physical objects — mostly props, prototypes, and set pieces — for film, photography, and product-based teams.
Who do you work with?
Our clients range from production designers to brand teams. Most are in the film, advertising, or product development space.
Do you only work in entertainment?
No — while many of our projects are for screen, we also prototype products and create one-off builds for physical retail or test environments.
